I love to drink this smoothie every morning right after my workout. It provides healthy carbohydrates from the banana and anti-inflammatory ingredients from the celery. What I love most about this smoothie is that you do not need a juicer. Everything in this Detox Kale Banana Smoothie blends together perfectly to make a smooth, creamy and refreshing drink!
Ingredients for Detox Kale and Banana Smoothie
This refreshing detox drink only requires FOUR ingredients! Make this on-the-go in under 5 minutes. Here is what you will need:
- KALE. Organic kale works best. You can use any type of kale like Curly Kale, Lacinato Kale (Dinosaur Kale, Tuscan Kale, Cavolo Nero)
- BANANA. Use one ripe banana for this smoothie. You can also use a frozen banana for a frothy smoothie.
- CELERY. I use one stalk of celery.
- UNSWEETENED ALMOND MILK. You can use any unsweetened plant-based milk.

Time needed: 5 minutes.
How to Make a Detox Kale and Banana Smoothie
- Wash kale and chop banana and celery.
Rinse and chop 1/2 cup of kale and roughly chop one banana and one stalk of celery.
- Blend kale, banana, celery and almond milk.
Add all of the ingredients to the blender and add 3/4 cup of unsweetened plant-milk. Blend until the kale, banana and celery are completely smooth and creamy.

You can make this smoothie in 5 minutes, but if you are feeling rushed and want to prepare it in advance, here is how to do it (or try one of our other amazing breakfast recipes.)
- Continue to follow the instructions and ingredient list as directed but ADD in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. The lemon juice will stop any oxidizing that may happen overnight or in the few hours ahead of drinking the smoothie. Don’t skip this step as you might end up with a brown smoothie without it! If you don’t have lemon juice, you can use Apple Cider Vinegar.
- Store in an air-tight container and keep in the fridge until right before you are ready to drink.

Ingredients
- ½ Cup Kale Curly Kale, Lacinato Kale (Dinosaur Kale, Tuscan Kale, Cavolo Nero)
- 1 Large Ripe Banana Can use frozen for chilled smoothie
- 1 Stalk Celery
- ¾ Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk Any plant-based milk will taste great
Instructions
- Wash the kale and roughly chop it along with the celery and banana before putting into the blender
- Add all of the ingredients with the almond milk to the blender. Blend until the kale is completely chopped and the smoothie is creamy.
- Drink right away or add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and store in the fridge in an air-tight container if you are preparing in advance.
